1.1   Scope. This standard identifies the minimum job performance requirements (JPRs) for land-based fire fighters responsible for fire-fighting operations aboard commercial/military vessels over 50 ft involved in fire that call at North American ports or that are signatory to the International Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Agreement.

Make sure fire fighters are prepared for fire emergencies at U.S. ports.

NFPA 1005 Professional Qualifications for Marine Fire Fighting for Land-Based Fire Fighters identifies the minimum job performance requirements for land-based fire fighters performing functions at Levels 1 and 2 at firefighting operations aboard commercial/military vessels over 50 feet.
