NFPA 1142 Standard on Water Supplies for Suburban and Rural Fire Fighting
NFPA 1142 城市和郊区消防供水

1.1 Scope.

1.1.1 This standard identifies a method of determining the minimum requirements for alternative water supplies for structural fire-fighting purposes in areas where the authority having jurisdiction determines that adequate and reliable water supply systems for fire-fighting purposes do not otherwise exist.

1.1.2 An adequate and reliable municipal-type water supply is one that is sufficient every day of the year to control and extinguish anticipated fires in the municipality, particular building, or building group served by the water supply.

Sufficient, reliable water supplies are essential for fire protection. Safeguard lives and property by following the latest requirements in 2012 NFPA 1142.

NFPA 1142 Standard on Water Supplies for Suburban and Rural Fire Fighting identifies minimum standards to assist rural and suburban fire departments in developing sufficient water supplies where no in-ground hydrant system (or an inadequate one) exists. It provides methods for determining water supply requirements based on occupancy and construction classifications. This Standard also provides information regarding apparatus construction for water tankers.

Improve community and fire fighter safety by staying on top of important changes in the 2012 edition such as

·   New material with guidance on bridge access to water sources

·   Clarification of the working space surrounding dry hydrants

·   Additional Annex material on the function, operation, and use of water eductors and ejectors, which can provide a unique and important means for acquiring water from sources that are difficult to utilize with other methods.

Whether you're an AHJ, planner, developer, or code official, this Standard is a must-have on-the-job resource. (Softbound, 63 pp., 2012)
