 BS 5866-4:1991 Blankets suitable for use in the public sector. Part 4: Specification for flammability performance scope: This Part of BS 5866 specifies requirements for the flammability performance of the blankets specified in Parts 1, 2 and 3 of BS 5866, when tested in both horizontal and vertical positions in accordance with section 3 of BS 7175:1989.

        Conditioning: T:20±5ºC, H: 65±5%  at least 16h

Test Method:

        - Smouldering cigarette test: ignition source 0
   
        - Flaming ignition test: ignition source 5

 

Sample required:  4 pieces

the test specimen shall be representative of the components and make-up of the finished item.

the size of the test specimens shall be as follows:

for cigarette ignition source 0: 450X1350mm minimum to allow for folding three times.

for flaming ignition sources 1 to 7: 650X650mm minimum to allow for an overhang of 150mm.
