Fire test center will provide IMO FTPC part 8 fire test to Marine Equipment
IMO MSC 61(67) - Introduction
Ships sailing in International Waters need to meet the requirements of SOLAS. The EU and USCG require certification of products placed on board these ships and other Flag States require Type Approval Certificates to be issued for products. Fire test reports are not accepted alone and you will need to contact a notified body for marine Certification to attain these documents, and the test shall comply with the IMO Resolution MSC 61(67).
IMO MSC 61(67) - Standard
> IMO MSC 61(67):Adoption of the international code for application of fire test procedures
IMO MSC 61(67)/ IMO FTPC Part 8: Fire test for upholstered furniture
> IMO FTPC Part 8 - Reference Standard
Resolution A.652(16) : Recommendation on fire test procedures for upholstered furniture
> IMO FTPC Part 8 - Application
Where upholstered furniture are required to have qualities of resistance to the ignition and propagation of flame, the upholstered furniture shall comply with this part.
> IMO FTPC Part 8 - TEST PRINCIPLE
The test is performed on a test rig. During testing with smouldering cigarette, the cigarette is allowed to smoulder completely. Development of fire in the test object is observed. Two parallel tests with smouldering cigarette are performed.
A small flame (match-flame equivalent) is used as a flaming ignition source. The test object is exposed to the flame for 20 seconds, and fire development after removal of the flame is observed. Two parallel tests with small flame as ignition source are performed.
> IMO FTPC Part 8 - IGNITABILITY CRITERIA
The tested object shall not show any signs of development of smouldering fire or flames during one hour after the smouldering cigarette has been placed in position.
The tested object shall show no signs of development of smouldering fire or flames more than 120 seconds after the ignition flame has been removed from the object.
If both of these criteria are fulfilled, the tested material combination satisfies the criteria to ignitability of upholstered furniture according to IMO Res. A.652(16).

Wheel Mark and USCG (United State Coast Guard)
At the same time, equipment carried on board ships registered under the flags of the European Union Member States should be tested in accordance with the Marine Equipment Directive 96/98 EC (MED) and achieve Wheel mark Certificate, Also, equipment carried on board ships registered in America should achieve USCG Certificate
