Materials maker Asahi Kasei Plastics North America Inc. has opened its first sales office in Mexico.
The office in Toluca will handle sales from warehouses used by Asahi Kasei in four other Mexican locations - San Luis Potosi, Puebla, Torreon and Monterrey, officials with the Fowlerville, Mich.-based firm said in a June 4 news release.
The office’s goal is to provide closer attention and faster response to local customer needs, Mexico sales manager Victor Mora said in the release. Asahi Kasei President John Moyer pointed out that the opening of the Mexican sales office coincided with the firm’s 12-year anniversary. The new office “accentuates our commitment to growing our global footprint,” Moyer said.
Commercial operations vice president Ramesh Iyer added that having a Mexican sales office “will facilitate our ability to better serve our clients in the region.”
The opening continues a busy year for Asahi Kasei, which is a major compounder of glass-reinforced polypropylene. The firm earlier announced its Thermylene-brand glass-reinforced PP would be available in Europe through an agreement with German compounder Polyplast Compound Werk GmbH.
At the NPE 2012 trade show in April, Asahi Kasei focused on new grades of its Xyron-brand polyphenylene ether compounds for solar panel components, Leona-brand nylon compounds for high performance and Tenac-brand acetal compounds, as well as several new grades of Thermylene.
