Dutch authorities are investigating Dow's Terneuzen production site in the Netherlands for unspecified incidents during 2005-08, the US chemicals major said Monday.
These incidents, which Dow did not specify, are being investigated by the Dutch Public Prosecution office (OM).
"Until the completion of the investigation, we cannot comment or go into details about the cases under investigation," Dow said in an email to Platts.
It noted however that "these incidents have been investigated previously by the respective governments and institutions."
"As standard procedure, Dow has used the findings of the investigations to introduce and implement improvements where needed," it said, adding the company operates "according to the strictest safety and environmental standards."
Dow declined to comment further.
Dutch media reports over the weekend said the OM is investigating a series of incidents that occurred at Dow's Terneuzen site in the 2005-08 period for possible violation of environmental and safety regulations.
