DSM's new Daron® 220 resin is designed to help pultrusion companies to make profiles at high speed.
DSM reports that the new product has low viscosity and can be easily tuned for a variety of applications, and used as single resin or as part of a two-component system. The parts can also demonstrate an excellent heat resistance.
When used as part of a two-component system the glass transition temperature of the resin can be as high as 220°C, which is much higher than the glass transition temperature of conventional vinyl ester resins.
Daron 220 resin is said to give excellent properties both with glass and with carbon fibres and it enables pultrusion lines to run at much higher speeds than with traditional high heat epoxy resins.
