The Newton City Commission has approved a tax abatement for an expansion at Future Foam, a producer of polyurethane foam.
The Newton Kansan reports the company plans to hire 23 people and invest about $10.5 million in its Newton plant.
Officials said Future Foam chose to expand in Newton instead of in North Carolina, partly because of the incentive. The abatement will be 100 percent the first year and will be phased out over 10 years.
