“Forensic investigations have ruled out an electrical cause,” he added.
The fire started in a warehouse, used to store finished products, and spread to part of an adjoining production building, damaging a composites separation plant used to hand dashboards. “Thankfully our dedicated car bumper recycling line and our extrusion building, housing the Erema plastics recycling system, which was only commissioned towards the end of 2010, are totally unaffected,” explained Weston.
Despite the setback, the company is in robust health. Business in the first quarter of this financial year has been the best for several years and the company therefore believes the fire will not have any long term affects.
