Speciality chemicals producer Clariant has expanded its range of phosphinate flame retardants with the addition of formulations for thermoplastics used in demanding environments. “Exolit” OP 1400 (TP) for polyamides and OP 1260 (TP) for polyesters are claimed to improve fire safety, processing and mechanical performance.
The company said the formulations overcome problems normally encountered with high processing temperatures for polyamides and high temperatures where engineering thermoplastic polyesters are employed. “Exolit” OP 1400 (TP) provides improved thermal stability to polyamides, making it suitable for high processing temperatures and compounds that are injection moulded into complex cavities. OP 1260 (TP) provides a solution to manufacturers looking to use halogen-free reinforced PBT in applications including insulating parts in the electrical and electronic industry.
