AGC AeroComposites (Seattle, Wash., USA) and ATK (Arlington, Va., USA) announced on July 14 a teaming agreement, creating an aerospace and defense industry resource spanning the full scope and scale of aerospace composites structures. Under terms of the agreement, the companies will team to pursue content on commercial and military platforms with an emphasis on tape laying and hand layup solutions.
The combined core capabilities of each company will provide mutual turnkey composite design, manufacturing capabilities and solutions. The scope of the global team capabilities encompass structural and nonstructural advanced composite products, specialized equipment, tooling and manufacturing processes spanning fiber placement, automated tape laying, large resin transfer molding (RTM) and finishing and hand layup.
“This teaming agreement allows AGC AeroComposites to meet a wider range of customer needs and to grow our business efficiently,” says Rick Armstrong, president and CEO of AGC AeroComposites. "It’s a perfect fit with our overall strategic growth plan, and will allow us to continue to add to our presence on new generation aircraft with high composite content.”
“Both ATK and AGC AeroComposites are well known in the industry as providers of highly engineered and reliable composite structures,” says Joy de Lisser, vice president and general manager of ATK’s Aerospace Structures division. “Teaming and synergies will allow us more breadth in scope and to provide our customers with low-cost hand lay-up composite structure solutions.”
