Specific timing for the expansion was not released.
Plastic Omnium has been molding parts in Anderson since the late 1990s. The same industrial park that houses the auto exterior group also is home to Plastic Omnium-owned Inergy Automotive Systems, which blow molds fuel tanks.
Plastic Omnium provides both fuel tanks and bumper fascia to BMW AG, which is in the midst of a $900 million, 1.6 million-square-foot expansion in nearby Spartanburg, S.C. BMW also is building a new transportation hub specifically to turn South Carolina into a global export hub.
BMW has 170 suppliers in North America, 40 of them in South Carolina alone, including the two Plastic Omnium facilities.
