Arkema joins thermoplastic resins recycling project
Arkema Inc. (Colombes, France) reported on April 27 that it has joined a project designed to introduce recycled materials into the manufacture of new thermoplastic products for the automotive, boatbuilding and wind power markets. The agreement, called REVERPLAST, was signed with Se?gole?ne Royal, French Minister for the Environment, Energy and the Sea; Emmanuel Macron, Minister for the Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs; and four partners. This project is part of new programs launched by the French government to assist companies in their circular economy approach based on committing to green growth.
Arkema's Altuglas PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) is being targeted first. The REVERPLAST project aims to create in Europe an end--of--life PMMA recovery stream to obtain new acrylic resins. These will then be entered into the composition of thermoplastic composite materials, themselves recyclable, to serve markets such as wind power, boatbuilding and automotive.
This project is run in partnership with:
CANOE, an Aquitaine--based technology platform dedicated to advanced materials
PAPREC, a plastics recycling specialist
INDRA, leader in the recycling of end--of--life vehicles
PLASTINOV, a specialist in the processing of composite materials for the wind power market
RoHS Test Method:
IEC 62321: Electrotechnical products - Determination of levels of six regulated substances (lead. mercury. cadmium. hexavalent chromium. polybrominated biphenyls. polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
