Four years after becoming an associate of the European Commission’s Sustainable Energy Campaign, PlasticsEurope has joined the EC’s Build Up initiative to promote energy-efficient technology for buildings.
Build Up aims to promote the effective implementation of energy saving measures in buildings. It offers free access to a wide range of information on best practices, technologies and legislation and targets building professionals, local authorities and citizens.
“As the association representing the European plastics manufacturers, PlasticsEurope is looking forward to helping the Commission in this task by providing its knowledge on the benefits of plastics materials in the building & construction sector to a wide network of interested stakeholders” said Arjen Sevenster, building and construction manager at PlasticsEurope.
Launched in 2009, Build Up is a European Commission initiative is part of the EU commitment to increase energy savings by 20% and to save 780 million tonnes of CO2 by 2020. It is funded under the Intelligent Energy Europe programme (2007-2013) of the European Commission.
