China's Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes plans to start up a new propylene plant at Yantai, in Shandong province, in 2013, Honeywell's UOP said in a statement Thursday.
The plant will use UOP's process technology to make 750,000 mt/year of propylene from propane and 565,000 mt/year of isobutane.
Apart from the technology licensing, UOP will provide engineering design, equipment, staff training and technical service for the project.
UOP's Oleflex process uses catalytic dehydrogenation to convert propane to propylene.
Yantai Wanhua, which focuses on isocynates, aromatic polyamines and thermoplastic polyurethanes, also owns three methylene diphenyl diisocyanate plants in China with a combined capacity of 800,000 mt/year.
