EU chemical producer prices fell 0.1% month-on-month in September, responding with a time lag to falls in energy and petroleum product costs a month earlier, data from statistics agency Eurostat showed Friday.
Energy and petroleum product prices ex-refinery rebounded 1.3% and 2.2% respectively following a drop of 1% and 2.2% in August.
Factory-gate prices for base chemicals were 0.3% lower month-on-month, including a 1.4% fall for organic basic chemicals that contrasted with a 0.2% rise for plastics in primary forms and a 1.1% rise for inorganic basic chemicals.
Further downstream, prices for plastics products were 0.2% lower, with plastic packaging goods prices down 0.3% and plastic plates, sheets, tubes and profiles prices 0.6% lower.
