China purified terephthalic acid producer BP Zhuhai Chemical Company restarted its 500,000 mt/year No 1 line Wednesday after two weeks of scheduled maintenance, a company source said Thursday.
BP Zhuhai, based in the southern province of Guangdong, has another 900,000 mt/year PTA line that is scheduled to shut in December for a month for debottlenecking, which will increase its capacity by another 30,000 mt/year.
BP Zhuhai is a joint venture between BP and Zhuhai Port Co. Ltd. The company is building a third PTA line at the same site which will be able to produce 1.25 million mt/year. It is expected to be completed in 2014.
