Siemens’s Industry Automation division has signed a deal to buy Vistagy, a specialist in specialised engineering software and services for the advanced composites sector.
US-based Vistagy makes products that help engineers use 3D computer-aided design and manufacturing to make composite parts and assemblies including large aerostructures, transportation seat systems and interior components.
Its customers include Bombardier Aerospace, General Motors and Sinomatech Wind Power Blade. In one project reported by European Plastics News, McLaren Automotive and its supplier Carbo Tech Composites used Vistagy’s FiberSIM software to design a monocoque chassis on the MP4-12C two-seat sport car.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is scheduled to close by the end of the year. Siemens Industry Automation is based in
Munich-based Siemens AG will integrate Vistagy into its PLM Software business unit.
