The Committee on the Environment (COTE) from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced the 2011 top 10 green building projects. At least three of the 10 projects have featured the PPG Industries’ eco-friendly advanced glass.

The First Unitarian Society Meeting House in Madison, Wis., a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed National Historic Landmark, was named by the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment among the top 10 "green" building projects for 2011. The project features an addition with floor-to-ceiling walls of SOLARBAN(R) 60 glass. PURE PERFORMANCE(R) paint from PPG PITTSBURGH PAINTS(R) also was used in the addition, which earned LEED Gold certification.

PPG’s high-performance architectural glass, named SOLARBAN 80 glass, has been featured in The Lofts at Cherokee Studios, Los Angeles and Step Up on 5th, California in order to increase natural ventilation, view and daylighting. U.S. Green Building Council awarded the LEED Gold certification for both the buildings.

The First Unitarian Society Meeting House in Wisconsin, which is a National Historic Landmark designed by a Frank Lloyd Wright, has used Solarban 60 glass from floor-to-ceiling walls. Additionally, PPG PITTSBURGH PAINTS’ Pure Performance paint was utilized that attained LEED status.

The Solarban low-emissivity, sun control architectural glasses provide exceptional solar performance and transmit high levels of natural light and also excellent features of solar control that join to reduce the cost associated with lighting and cooling in buildings. PPG Industries is the first glass producer to attain CRADLE TO CRADLE Silver Certification for all the products.

One of the eco-friendly paints in the market was this Pure Performance paint from PPG. This paint has no formulation of volatile organic compounds (VOC). It has achieved the rigorous ecological strategies of the building industry while providing quality and performance for builders, homeowners and professional painters.
