Resin Surfaces Limited (RSL), market leading manufacturers of epoxy and polyurethane floor screeds are proud to bring to the market a range of Cementitious pumped screeds, including both wearing course and underlayment re-profiling products. RSL now offer a complete solution for flooring projects. Two new products are available with plans to further expand the range. Each of the products are designed to be used in conjunction with RSL's extensive range of coatings and screeds.
The new RSL product range has the ability to provide finishes on green concrete using liquid DPMS and fast cure low odour systems. Architects and Engineers can now design and specify Cementitious and resin based solutions that are rapid drying, low odour and very high performance; all provided from a single source supplier. RSL's underlayment's have very high compressive strengths making them perfect for areas with heavy load requirements and other industrial environments.
The product range now provides solutions from oversite concrete to finished industrial, commercial and decorative wearing courses. These are all systems which will assist contractors to create the best possible end result. A pump is used for installation of the product providing high volume mixing and enabling high volume installations.
Pumped Industrial Wearing Course (PIWC)is a self-smoothing industrial grade flooring, ideal for heavy duty industrial and commercial environments. PIWC has a high compressive strength of 58.5n/mm2 which makes it ideal for environments where abrasion and impact resistance is very important. PIWC can be installed coated or uncoated at a thickness of 7-20mm. After 2 - 4 hours at 20°C PIWC cures sufficiently to withstand foot traffic.
Pumped Industrial Sub Base (PISB) is an underlayment to complement the Pumped Industrial Wearing Course(PIWC). The major benefit of this underlayment is that it has a high compressive strength of 40n/mm2 providing excellent impact resistance. PISB is designed to re-profile existing worn or out of tolerance concrete slabs of thickness 7 - 60mm and is an ideal underlayment to carpet, vinyl, laminates and ceramic tiles. After just 2 - 4 hours at a temperature of 20°C, PISB is cured sufficiently to withstand footfall, resulting in a quicker installation process. At 20mm thickness PISB is ready to receive PIWC after only 24 hours, dramatically reducing programming times.
Ivy Wroe Managing Director commented 'This is a very exciting time for us to expand our product range and complement our existing resin products. We take pride in providing the best possible service and products to our customers; introducing the cementitious range means we can give customers a more comprehensive guarantee for a complete flooring solution. These underlayment products are designed to work with our proven resin flooring range. Using the full range of products will help installers to produce the best possible installation and finish.'
To ensure the best performance from a cementitious underlayment you need to ensure that suitable surface preparation is carried out prior to application of the underlayments. Our suggested and preferred method would be vacuum assisted shot blasting as this is an excellent way to ensure that the area is free from laitance or surface contamination which may impair the product bonding to the surface of the substrate.
Priming the prepared area is also an important part of applying PISB or PIWC, RSL's RS Cemprime can be applied in one or more coats to seal the prepared surface ensuring the substrate has been fully sealed.
