Hong Kong, January 16, 2012 – BASF, the world's leading chemical company, has made two senior appointments in the Asia Pacific Region, for Procurement and the Performance Chemicals division.
BASF has appointed Dr. Saik Aun Tan as Senior Vice President of Procurement Asia Pacific, effective January 2012. Dr. Tan joined BASF in 2004, and most recently, he was responsible for Performance Chemicals Asia Pacific. Prior to this, Dr. Tan held the roles of Director in Automotive Systems of Polyurethanes and Vice President of Acrylic Monomers and Superabsorbents in the Asia Pacific region. He obtained his Chemistry degree and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Frithjof Netzer will succeed Dr. Saik Aun Tan effective January 2012, as Senior Vice President, Performance Chemicals Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Dr. Netzer joined BASF Coatings in 1999 as Manager of Strategy Development and Special Projects. Subsequently he was Director of BASF’s Acrylic Monomers and Superabsorbents business in the Americas, based in the United States. Prior to his new role he was Vice President Global Procurement Aromatics in Ludwigshafen, Germany. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from WWU Münster in Germany.
