The reformer has a design capacity of more than 1 million mt/year, comprising 238,000 mt/year of benzene, 291,000 mt/year of toluene and 476,000 mt/year of isomer-grade mixed xylenes.

Asian paraxylene surged to a four-month high of $1,636/mt CFR Taiwan/China February 3 up $14/mt from February 2 and up $47/mt from the week before. The late-week PX rally was attributed to expectations of a downstream purified terephthalic acid revival next week, when weaving and textile plants resume operations, industry watchers said.
Talk in the market of Chinese end-users seeking PX in the spot market also fueled the rally, but a source from Sinopec, China's largest PX maker, said this was unlikely. "PTA makers would only consider buying at below $1,600/mt CFR. They're already in the red now so there's no reason for them to buy imported cargoes when cheaper domestic PX is still available," he said.
The US PX price climbed to $1,585/mt FOB USG February 2. The European PX price climbed to $1,531/mt FOB Rdam. (See related chart: paraxylene)
