Greg Babe will retire as president and CEO of Bayer Corp.
The 54-year-old Babe is a 36-year veteran of Bayer, having started there as the company's first intern in 1976. He has been president and CEO of Bayer Corp. since October 2008, and has led Bayer MaterialScience LLC since July 2004. Bayer Corp., a division of Bayer AG, had sales in 2010 of $9.4 billion.
The company said Babe was traveling Thursday and unavailable for comment. No successor was named but plans would be announced closer to Babe's retirement date, a spokesman said.
