Mica Flakes are manufactured from Muscovite variety of white mica, hand-picked and filtered to remove unwanted foreign materials. During the process of grinding in high speed hammer mill, the thickness of mica laminations is reduced and harder and coarser particle are eliminated by air flotation. This process increases the surface area of the mica in relation to its weight. After passing through hammer mill the ground mica is passed over a series of screens and separated in to various grades. The most widely used being is the coarser grade. MANEK Mica flakes are non adhesive and are loosely packed in bags. Flakes mix well with the mud and remain dispersed through it. The approximate particle size analysis of the grades used in drilling oil wells is given below.
